This species is highly prized for its long and very coarse coat, which consists of two types of hair: insulative, dense and soft undercoat and coarse guard hair, which protects the animal from insects and dirt and can resist water. A black bear rug is not usually found on a habitat farm, but most hunting lodges have them.
