Himalayan Black Bear

The himalayan black bear is greatly in need of conservation due to a high babies mortality rate and extensive hunting. Honey is greatly sought and insects, termites and beetle larvae provide variety to their diet. In the autumn, fields of ripening corn and maize are frequently raided. Often these animals kill domestic stock – sheep, goats, and even larger cattle, if natural food is scarce.
